A mistake I just made is compartmentalizing this band as Aussie egg punk. That's why this track sticks out from the others in this set. They are a lot broader than that, and this is a delightful song. Sorry, Doctor.
A farewell h/t to Mick, who knows all the best bands, and writes about them: https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2024/05/valley-gals-male-aggression.html
I've played this a lot over the years, in the context of whether the Late Risers Club is still relevant. You, dear listeners, trend on the older side - averaging in the 50s. We love you, but if you're all we've got then this is just a big exercise in nostalgia, and that's not what LRC was ever meant to be. Younger listeners generally don't do radio or synchronous streaming. Maybe they're listening to the archives, we don't have a way to tell, but I suspect not. I tried to recruit younger LRC DJs. I failed. The kids don't want no rock and roll, and maybe it's time to put a sunset date on the Late Risers Club. But that's now a decision for someone else to make. Thanks for your support these past 10 years!
