The first attempt on April 13th, 1965, this had an experienced sitar player, but in the group's opinion: JIm McCarty - "It just didn't have any groove to it" / Jeff Beck - "It was fine in principle, ... the sitar just wasn't up front enough. It just didn't cut through." So, Jeff Beck developed a riff on guitar to replace the sitar line, using his Tone Bender fuzz box. See Link above, for full story.
