Dweezil Zappa Interview Show Frank Zappa was musically fearless and intellectually fierce, a composer/guitarist working in multiple genres from rock and pop to jazz, avant-garde, and classical, always with a progressive edge. His lyrics were often made up of keenly observed social satire and rather salacious sexual commentary. He's hard to pigeonhole, but if any rocker deserves to be called a genius, I think Zappa is it. Frank died in 1993, just shy of age 53, leaving a huge archive of material both released and unreleased (CDs released now number 111). In the following decade his older boy, Dweezil (now 49), skilled like Frank on guitar, began touring to play his father's music, and does it with versatile bands that rival Frank's own. This is the second two hour special we've done with Dweezil, the last being in 2014. I, for one, will never get tired of talking Zappa (and I got to see Frank
ten times...lucky me!).
