After Station ID, "For Your Pleasure's" Black Facts. Tonight's feature on Shirley Chisholm, U.S. Representative who was nominated to run for President of the United States, at the Democratic Convention, in 1972, to go against President Richard Nixon. This version of What's Going On is called an alternate Detroit Mix, a live version, almost 6 minutes long, only, though it was recorded at the Kennedy Center, in Washington, DC, as well as other versions of his songs, from the original LP. Only available on the Delexe Edition.
This song originally on "Feelin' Bluesy", an underrated album had many great songs, later sung by many Motown stars, who had them bigger hits. I got turned on to the song, by a man who used to produce and host a program, on WTBS/WMBR, back in the70's until the mid 80's, Arthur Kempton. This song was his closing theme for the commercial program he produced, for WILD-AM, in Boston, "The Time Tunnel" aka "The Arthur Kempton Time Tunnel", which played many R&B hits, not heard in the Boston area, by the big groups and those who couldn't quite make the cut. I owe my knowledge and love of R&B love songs to my good friend, Arthur Kempton. Thank you for showing me what R&B is about. I am grateful, as "For Your Pleasure" heads towards it's 25th year on WMBR.
